After the selection of the technical team, in February, the SOS Social Centre in S. Vicente opens its doors. At a moment it works only with a staff composed by a Director, (1) an Administrative and Financial Secretary, (2) two social workers; (1) one Responsible for the social & cultural activities; (1) one Responsible for Training; (1) one General Services Assistant; (2) two guards; and (1) one handler garden. The Centre begins its activities on 01 April by receiving, first, the (ND) National Director who visits the installations and meets the personal.The SOS Social Centre – S. Vicente is a pilot project in the archipelago and its objective is the social and professional integration of the children, youths and their families in their own community.
Otherwise, the FSP (Family Strengthening Programme), which covers about 301 beneficiaries, will be applied in this SOS Social Centre and, so, with a prevision to increases until 450, just before the final of this year. With a capacity to cover 150 children diary – between 6 to 16 years old – the SOS Social Centre will be able to work beyond a philosophy of a day centre, which means, that the users will e back home in the end of the day. It has (6) six blocks, which one (1) is for administrative subjects, rooms for the technical team, (1) one block with classrooms, an other block where will be placed a kitchen, a multifaceted room, an other where will be placed a temporary bedchamber for 10 – 12 children, in average, and an respective SOS Mother.
