Intervention Communitarian Centre in Brasil strengthens partnership agreements

SOS Children's Villages Cape Verde and Capeverdean Foundation of Solidarity, in the role of main promoters of the protocol for the Intervention Communitarian Centre at Brasil neighbourhood, signed a partnership agreement, on the morning of 17 February with various social institutions.

The Intervention Communitarian Centre at Brasil neighbourhood has as the main partners: the Capeverdean Institute of Child and Adolescent, the National Commission for Human Rights and Citizenship, Commission of Coordination and Drugs Combating, Vocational Training Centre in Praia, Capeverdean Association for Family Protection, Capeverdean Foundation for Student Welfare, the Police/Regional Command, Health Centre ASA, Church of the Nazarene/League Nazarene, Pedro Gomes High School, School New President, Community Association for the Development of Brasil, Judo school, João Fidalgo, Directorate of Youth, Rotary Club Maria Pia Praia/ Rotaract and the National Notary Services for Identification.

SOS Children's Villages Cape Verde was represented by Mr Fernando Pinto, SOS Children’s Village Director of São Domingos, said: "we must learn to take advantage of this partnership and make the institutions present here to continue to work focusing their efforts to other quarters because actually the neighbourhood of Brasil has received and it has been receiving a lot of support, and this is a result of great work being done in partnership".

According to the president of the Capeverdean Foundation of Solidarity, Mrs Vanusa Cardoso, the signing of this protocol between partners in 2007 marked the beginning of an alliance promoted by SOS Children's Villages Cape Verde and the Capeverdean Foundation of Solidarity, partner organisations, representing the target of social group. She also added that the goal is to network and work together in a smooth and coordinated way to protect and defend the welfare and development of children at the neighbourhood of Brasil".

Mrs Cardoso highlighted, yet, that "we know that is not an easy task as the child’s protection is a responsibility that must be shared by all actors involved in education and training of the child for life in society, having the biological family the first responsibility to provide according to their abilities and financial capacities, living conditions for child’s social and emotional development, harmonious and healthy children. The Capeverdean Foundation of Solidarity embraces this social challenge because we elected since its foundation child protection as one of the most important axes of our intervention, taking action to support social empowerment, particularly for orphans and vulnerable children, concluded the president of Capeverdean Foundation of Solidarity".

The Intervention Communitarian Centre of Brasil neighbourhood was founded in 2007 in a partnership between SOS Children’s Villages Cape Verde and the Capeverdean Foundation of Solidarity.
